However, it is not only President Jonathan who battled poverty as a child before he got to the top, Benue State Governor, Gabriel Tor Suswam has his own story to tell.
Suswam during a recent programme monitored by Dailypost on AIT declared that while growing up in the city of Benue, he had only a pair of trousers which he would wash over the night and put on the following day.
The Governor, during the programme, True Nigerians, anchored by music star, Zakky Azzay said, “My upbringing wasn’t rosy at all, though my father was a traditional ruler but we were not among the first class citizens.
I was more close to my grand mum than my biological mother. I could remember then I just a pair of trousers.
I would wash it over the night and put it on the following morning,” Suswam told Zakky who eventually hails from the same state with the governor.
